JAlba is a nonprofit event. The registration fee covers the cost of the lunches, the felt-tip pens, the sticky notes, some transport, and–most of all–the venue. We continue to aim to be a nonloss event as well, so the 2026 registration cost is £180. For the second time this year, we’re charging partners a small fee, because lunches and travel for the outings are bundled with the registration price.
Also, of course, you’ll have to pay for yourself—travel to Edinburgh (obviously), and accommodation* there. From then on, we organise the afternoon outings and evening meals, and you make one payment to us for all of that. Dinner and outings last year came to about £270 if you took them all up.
If you need to charge your employer an all-in conference fee, we’ll create an all-in ticket that includes registration, outings and evening meals.
*accommodation costs are wild in an over-touristed Edinburgh. Right now, one of the least expensive near to the Quaker Meeting House is the Apex Grassmarket Hotel. One JAlban has stayed there for every JAlba since 2018, and swears by the breakfast Eggs Benedict.
Last year, another JAlban stayed in a travellers’ hostel on Johnson Terrace, five minutes walk from our venue, paid £150 in total, and was well satisfied! If you hurry, some travellers’ hostels still have availability in private rooms, but normally you have to share.
